今天的片語[push for] to try very hard to achieve (something).

Ex.

1.      My parents are pushing for a new school and have contacted the local councilors.

2.      Bill is pushing for a pay rise and, if he does not get it, he will look for another job.

Push for 奮力爭取，催促，迫切要求某些事情。

有時人們會鼓勵我們奮力爭取自己想要的~

you should push for what you want…

還有另個說法gain comes from loss (就是從他人損失中得到)

今天介紹『The walking dead (陰屍路)』第4集(Episode 4 Season 4)part 5

上為主角Rick在外遇到兩位年輕人，就是脫臼(dislocated)的那兩位，

他們跟Rick說他們要去找一些食物補給，

We won't take any chances.

We'll look. And if it's cake, we'll do it.

If not, we'll just roll.

上面說的 it’s cake 不是說有蛋糕就把它吃了=.=

它是由a piece of cake來的，就是”簡單”的意思~

然後他又說 just roll…

Roll這字就是go的意思，我們常說Let’s go

也可換成Let’s roll..

PS Rock n “roll” 就是這個字，但是意思非”GO”，而是搖滾樂

颱風:typhoon 颶風: hurricane 旋風:cyclone

以上是不同區域所稱呼不同，實質上是一樣的。

吹倒:blow down , 因伯朗大到上的金城武樹被吹倒了，就來個例句吧!

The typhoon blew down aniki tree =.=

淹水/水災(n):flood, EX. The flood made 200000 people homeless.

土石流: landslide, Ex. The earthquake triggered a landslide.

上週所教的puke，噁吐物~應該大家都還記得吧!

這週介紹『Ray Donovan(清道夫)』第一季第12集(Episode 12 Season 1)part2，Donovan因為忙於公事，擔心家人受牽連，所以把她們送到飯店，他兒子就不斷拿東西吃，反正是老爸付錢，這情況他姊就說了”你真會占便宜”，

她說you are taking advantage, 所以占便宜就是take advantage,

Advantage意思為優點，好處，相反詞為缺點weakness

今天的片語[switch off] to stop (an electrical device, etc.) from working by pressing a switch.

Ex.

1.      John switched off the television when the program finished.

2.     You can switch the engine off now.

關掉電器用品可用此片語，turn off也是可以使用喔!

今天介紹『The walking dead (陰屍路)』第4集(Episode 4 Season 4)part 4

型男Daryl與黑人軍醫一起在某處找尋物資，

一進去就看到嘔吐物

他說That's puke，

就來學學這個字

Puke: 發音是 /ˈpjuːk/ 不是 Puk 喔

當動詞: to bring food back up from your stomach through your mouth [等同vomit]

EX. He puked all over the carpet.

當名詞: 就是指嘔吐物

這字可以學起來，因為暈車或喝太多時就是會看到這些@@

本週介紹片語[open up]:to unlock the door to a building so that people can get in.

Ex.

1.      Mark rarely opens up the office until 9.15 although he should open at

9 o’clock.

2.     Mario doesn’t open his restaurant up until the evening.

3.     There was a queue outside the shop and so we opened it up early.

這邊的開門是指商店或辦公司的開門(營業)

本週要介紹『Ray Donovan(清道夫)』第一季第12集(Episode 12 Season 1)part1

，FBI因自己的探員被殺害，以為是Donovan所為，

但Donovan回他說”you pursue this,  you’re gonna lose your pension”

Pursue: to continue doing an activity or trying to achieve something over a long period of time.

Pension: an amount of money paid regularly by the government or company to someone who does not work any more, for example because they have reached the age when people stop working or because they are ill.

Pursue是指追趕，或是追蹤某事

Pension可當退休金，撫慰金等等

複習上週[fall in with]: to accept and agree to (something) 就是同意某些事情。

今天介紹片語[make out]: to understand (something that may be difficult to understand)

Ex.

1.     I can’t make out why Rod likes Edith so much – she can be very nasty.

2.     The woman was saying something to me in a foreign accent and I couldn’t make it out.

3.     It was a bad connection, and I could not make out what Don was trying to say.

其實就是"了解” “知道”的意思!!  但是make out 也用親熱，接吻的用法!!

使用上要注意喔!! 嘿嘿~~要不然鬧笑話@@~

另一個 cross-examination，盤問的意思。

今天介紹『The walking dead (陰屍路)』第4集(Episode 4 Season 4)part 3

上回說到主角Rick與光頭媽遇到一對年輕人，Rick接著就問他們

Rick: After the greenhouse, you came here?

年輕人:Yeah. We thought it was clear. We missed the deadie in the PJs,

so we dove into the bathroom.

大家可以學幾個單字

1.     Greenhouse 綠屋子?!什麼屋子裡面會都是植物呢?就是溫室囉!

那溫室效應就是Green house effect.

2.     PJs:這是Pyjamas的縮寫，我們GPS的某篇教材裡面也有說到這個字，就是睡衣。

3.     Dove into?大家千萬別想成鴿子飛進廁所=.= 更不是多芬洗髮精~~

他是dive過去式也可用dived，所以dive into 他這裡是指衝進去喔!
