今天小編要介紹的片語是【soak up】: to absorb (something), to lie or sit for a long time in (sunshine):
ex:

1.      To blotting paper soaked up the ink.

2.      It’s a pity to waste all this sunshine- let’s go out and soak it up.

3.      The girls lay on the beach and soaked up the hot sunshine.

這裡是有吸收浸泡的意思，或是沈浸(在工做…..)

他說Don’t get cocky

Cocky: too confident about yourself and your abilities, especially in a way that annoys other people.

驕傲，自大的意思，比較為負面的用法

例如: He's a cocky little man and I don't like him.

今天小編要介紹的片語是【revert to】to return to a previous state or condition, often one that is thought less desirable in some way, to begin to use (something) again which one had used before, but stopped using

Ex.

1.      Our central heating system’s broken down and so we’ve had to revert to electric fires.

2.      For a while Jill seemed happy, but now she is reverted to her gloomy old self.

3.      After he was out of prison, he reverted to a life of crime.

這意思就是恢復原本的方式或是原本的.....

小編利用週末看了一部好電影『救救菜英文』ENGLISH VINGLISH

這部電影有很深層的探討家庭彼此間的尊重等問題，是值得一看的好電影。

劇中女主角因為住在紐約的外甥女結婚，所以獨自一人先行到紐約，因為受不了自己不懂英文感到難過，因而參加了英文課程，

在課程中他問了一個問題，為什麼不能說“The”India，美國卻可以說The united states of America，大家知道為什麼不能加The這定冠詞於India嗎?

思考一下，再往下拉看答案!

這是因為the 是指特定的人事物，如果將India特定了，代表還有其他的India，但是India在這是界上就只有一個，不會有第二個，例如要去看醫生我們可以說

I wanna see a doctor 或是 I wanna see the doctor

這差別就是a doctor是沒指定的，反正就是去看醫生，但是the doctor就是你指定的某一位，可能是常去的診所之類的。

說回美國為什麼可以加The，這是因為它後面接的是州(state)，這世界上有很多州，

且州並非為專有名詞，故此時需要用在特定的The(指的就是美國那邊的州)。

相同例子還有菲律賓，不能說Philippines，要說The Philippines，

這時有人又一頭霧水了， 因為Philippines應該是國家名，不可加The才對。

這點或許很多人知道要加The，但卻少人知道真正的原因，

這是因為它省略了The Philippine “islands”，所以大家就應該知道The它是指islands，特定的島嶼所組成的國家囉!!

Ex.

1.     We’re not sure if we’ll get there – all we have to go by is some barely legible directions.

2.     The pupils were told that if they went by the rule, they would not get into trouble.

3.     I went by the recipe, but the cake turned out to be inedible.

這裡就是依靠仰賴或是求助於某事情的用法，大家學起來了嗎??

今天要介紹陰屍路第四季『The walking dead (陰屍路)』第2集(Episode2 Season 4)part 4，劇中Michonne與另一正咩Beth Green(本名 Emily Kinney)說她不該害大家受傷，這時候Beth說了”當我們在乎一個人時難免會受傷”(正咩說的就是不一樣)

英文上她就是說”When you care about people, hurt is kind of part of the package.”

Package:

1        a box or large envelope that is sent

2  a group of related things that go together.

常使用在包裹或是套裝產品，例如旅行的套裝行程。

今天小編要介紹的片語是【stretch out】 to lay (oneself or someone)out straight:

Ex.

1.       Frank was tired and stretched himself out on the sofa.

2.       The nurses stretched the patient out on the bed.

3.       Let's stretch ourselves out for a minute--we've been sitting here for over 3 hours.

Stretch 這個字在棒球賽第7場也會出現，他們叫做”seventh inning stretch”

因為看了7場也應該起來伸展身體啦~!
